Just in between the south of the Mexico City between the canals of the Xochimilco, you can find a small island full of hung dolls. It is a tourist destination now, but the background and the story behind it you are so sad. The island is known as- Isla De Las Munecas (island of the dolls).
The haunted story of the island stared when a girl was found in unexpected circumstances who met her destiny too soon. The places is a tourist attraction but it is very different from other. As the island is the home of terrifying dolls. After seeing those you don’t intend to play with them, instead of your soul even have Goosebumps. Their severed limbs, decapitated heads, and black eyes adorn trees.
If you are thinking that they might not look so bad in daylight, you mistaking now. As these hanging dolls are threatening even in the daylight while in the dark they are so much disturbing.
The story behind:
It is said that a girl was found drowned in mysterious circumstances many years ago on the same island and that the dolls are possessed by her spirit. Local says that the dolls eventually move their heads and arms and even opened their eyes.
Some of the tourists claimed that they have listened to dolls whispering with each and even they decoyed them to come on the island.
The truth behind the story of the island is that- Don Julian Santana Barrera was caretaker of the island. And the story started when one day he found a girl dead, he wasn’t able to save her life. So he picked up her doll and hung it to a tree, as a way to show the girl’s spirit some respect. But the reports say that Julian made the story of the girl on his own.
Julian was apparently possessed by the spirit of the girl and started hanging more dolls in an attempt to please her spirit. Then he soon realized the dolls themselves were possessed by the spirits of the dead girls and started collecting them and hanging all those creepy dolls over the island.
After 50 years of collecting dolls and hanging them over the trees, he himself found dead, drowned in the same spot where the girl died.
