Ayushmann Khurana’s edge of the seat thriller Andhadun has reached incredible heights in the country. When asked about how Andhadhun came to be, he replied “AndhaDhun is the most impromptu and spontaneous film I've ever done. Sriram's (director Sriram Raghavan) way of filming is so different. He's the quintessential rule-breaker, he follows no rule. There are one script and one screenplay given to you in English. You understand that it's a thriller. While giving the narration, he just keeps asking you questions and would write down whatever I'd say. And the result? It would come out as something crazy. His motto was to break everyone's notion while being unpredictable” to HuffPost.
The film has now got its way through China where it’s all set to release in the name of ‘Piano Player’. China can now be seen as an emerging market for Indian mainstream films.
It is for the first time that Raghavan’s film is releasing in China and the director is exalted to present his film to a fresh new audience.“I am super thrilled that ‘Andhadhun’ is releasing in China. Ten years back, on a visit to China, I walked into a Beijing Cafe and was zapped to see Nasir Husain’s ‘Caravan’ playing on a big screen. Dubbed in Chinese except for the songs. I was told the film was the favourite Indian film of that generation. I am curious how the Chinese audience responds to our musical thriller,” Raghavan said in a statement.
Viacom18 Studios along with Eros International has now collaborated with Tang Media Partners to release the thriller in China.“I am happy to announce that Viacom18 Studios has secured its maiden release in China and that too with our favorite film ‘Andhadhun’. I am very excited about our film’s prospect at the China box office and celebrating what is a major first for the studio,” Ajit Andhare, COO, Viacom18 Studios, said.
