You must be wondering that last year you have celebrated the day with your father in June, right? Actually, you are right but today is also father’s day. In Catholic Europe, it has been celebrated on March 19, since the middle ages.

Father’s day is a celebration honoring our fathers and we celebrate the day with them for fatherhood, paternal bonds and the influence of fathers in society. The first man we met in our life is our father, and he is the only man with which we feel safe right from our birth till our last breath.

The celebration of the day brought Spanish and Portuguese to Latin America, where 19th March is used for the celebration. According to Catholic Calendar, the day is celebrated as the feast day of Saint Joseph, who is known as the fatherly Nutrition Domini ("Nourisher of the Lord") in Catholicism and "the putative father of Jesus" in southern European tradition.

The Catholic Church actively support the celebration of the father’s day on the St. Joseph’s day. In the Coptic Church, the celebration of fatherhood is also observed on St. Joseph’s Day, but the Copts observe this celebration on July 20.
