We woke up this morning to the sheer delight of getting to catch hold of the first look of Deepika Padukone from Chhapaak, the shooting of which starts from today. Quite for sometimes this character named Laxmi Agarwal has been doing the rounds as a brave woman who survived a terrible acid attack, fought with the grave situation and came out victoriously; a woman who didn’t think of giving up on life even after such a sheer tragedy.

The day Deepika Padukone announced that she has signed up to play acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal's life in Meghna Gulzar's next Chhapaak, we knew she is going to leave no stone unturned to ensure that she does justice to every little aspect of the character and her story and now, just have a look at her incredible first look! Keeping aside the CGI’s, it's the intensity in Deepika's eyes that will bowl you over for we strongly believe this fact that only this versatile actress can emote so effortlessly with her soft eyes.

As director Meghna Gulzar had recently disclosed her experience narrating the script of Chhapaak to Deepika, "It was a moment of serendipity when I asked for a meeting with Deepika. I had many conversations with myself that she just may not be interested in doing the kind of film that I was talking to her. And she wasn’t. She was looking to do something lighter after three intense films. But I didn’t have a light, romantic script for her. My film was based on acid violence. Of a woman who epitomized immense courage and strength, in the face of crippling adversity. It felt like a perfect fit. Deepika took on the film, the character, and me, in a heartbeat", she said.
