Rahul Dravid, the wall of an Indian cricket team, who is also the Karnataka’s EC Brand Ambassador will not be voting in his constituency coming this week as his name is not mentioned in the voters' list. The cricketer was not able to submit the application before the deadline.
Here is the reason behind it:
While the former Indian Captain was a registered voter at his paternal home’s constituency of Indira Nagar in Bangalore. His name was deleted from the listed as he shifted to the new constituency of Malleswaram.
The official authority informs that March 16 was the last deadline for submitting the application and polling officials went to the new house three times for the verification process to complete the procedure. However, Rahul Dravid did not turn up for the verification. The reason behind the same is that he was not available in the town as he was travelling abroad.
Although the brother of Dravid submitted the application for removal of his name from the old constituency. His personal secretary told the officers that Rahul Dravid wants to vote from his old place of residence.
We told him that as per his application, we have removed his name from the voters' list and now, procedures have to be followed for inclusion," the officer said.
While the elections of the Bangalore will take place on April 18, the results will be declared on May 23.
