In the 51st match of IPL, Mumbai Indians defeated Hyderabad in Super Over at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday. In the super over, Hyderabad set a target of 9 runs for Mumbai, which they achieved with three balls to spare. Jaspreet Bumrah was the hero of Mumbai’s victory.
Bumrah only gave eight runs, making the super over chase easier for Mumbai thus adding to its chances of cruising into the playoffs. With this win, Mumbai qualified for the playoffs to become the third team to secure its place in the top four after Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals.
Earlier, batting first, Mumbai scored 162 for 5 in 20 overs. Hyderabad, chasing the target, could score 162 for 6 in 20 overs. Hyderabad required to hit 17 runs to win in the last over, but could only manage 16 runs.
Hyderabad opener Riddhiman Saha scored 25 off 15 balls and Martin Guptill returned to the pavilion after scoring 15 runs from 11 balls. Both of them contributed 40 runs in 24 balls. Jaspreet Bumrah has dismissed both Kandal Pandya dismissed Kane Williamson (3) and Vijay Shankar (12). Hardik dismissed Abhishek Sharma (2). Mohammad Nabi scored 31 runs off 20 balls.
Earlier, Mumbai won the toss and decided to bat first and scored 162 for five wickets in 20 overs. Opener Quinton Decock played a 69 runs innings of 58 balls. Rohit returned to the pavilion after scoring 24 runs. He was dismissed by Khalil. Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed with Khalil for 23 runs. He shared a 54-run partnership with Decock for the second wicket.
