When horror comes in contact with comedy, the result has always been outstanding. And Rajkumar Rao’s Stree is the quintessential of this genre called horror comedy. Such films are quite appreciated in Bollywood now, but have quite less managed to shower an impact like Rajkummar Rao and Pankaj Tripathi starrer Stree did last year.
The movie had evoke laughter, had reasonable edge of the seat moments and most importantly also had a powerful message. Each character in the film, from that of Janna (Abhishek Banerjee) and Bittu (Aparshakti Khurana) to Rudra (Pankaj Tripathi) and Vicky (Rajkummar Rao), Stree went on to stand as one of the best films of 2018.
And now the great news has dropped much to the delight of the Rajkumar Rao fans that the film is getting a sequel. Stree 2 as according to the sources is on the cards and the original star cast including Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi and others have been retained for the sequel.
“It will happen next year. We are working on the script. There are few ideas for Stree 2. The expectations are high, so the team wants to give their best shot as we are not in a hurry to make it. The core cast of Stree will be returning for the sequel,” a source told PTI.
Directed by Amar Kaushik, the horror comedy flick was established in the small town of Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh, where an evil spirit named Stree abducts men in the night during navratra. It is actually based on the urban legend of Nale Ba that went viral in Karnataka in the 1990s. Produced by Dinesh Vijan, Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, Stree had earned Rs 180 crore worldwide.
On the other hand, Rajkummar Rao is set to act in another horror-comedy, Rooh-Afza, backed by Vijan's Maddock Films banner. It will revolve around a singing ghost who puts grooms to sleep so it can possess their brides. Rooh-Afza, reportedly will share the same universe with Stree.
