Spanish club FC Barcelona’s former midfielder Xavi Hernandez has announced retirement from professional football. This season is the last season of his career. He will say goodbye to football at the end of this season. Xavi is currently playing with Qatar’s Club Al-Saad. He has played 767 matches for FC Barcelona so far. In the meantime, he also scored 85 goals in total from 1998 to 2015.

After announcing his retirement Xavi said, "It was my privilege to play till the age of 39. As a player, 2018-19 will be the last season for me, but I hope that in future I will get a chance to become a coach and I will not let that opportunity go."

Xavi earned 25 titles in total for playing for Barcelona, ​​including Triple in 2008/09 and 2014/15.
