It took 12 weeks of strenuous dance-offs and jaw-dropping moves after “World of Dance” found the Season 3 champion Sunday night.
And the winner was, much to the delight and pride of the Indians, The Kings!
Five acts had to make it’s way to the Sunday night’s world final namely, Canadian contemporary dancer Briar Nolet (Upper division), The Kings (Upper Team) of Mumbai, India, the sister duo of Ellie and Ava (Junior division), VPeepz (Junior Team), a hip-hop group from the Philippines, and Unity LA (Wildcard), a 10-person squad from Southern California.
Each of them performed one more time during the finale in front of judges Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo, and Derek Hough.
And with the much-deserved victory, The Kings took home the $1 million top prize and the result was nothing to take anyone by surprise. The 14-member Bolly-Hop squad — with ages ranging from 17-27, had consistently racked up blockbuster scores during its go on the show with breath-taking high-flying tricks and jaw-dropping stunts.
And Sunday was the day to crown the real Kings of the World Of Dance. The Kings, with an attempt to bring out their best so far, took the stage clad as gladiators and opened things with a few massive, synchronized flips. And with the flow, their action-packed routine gave rise to an epic, slow-motion “cinematic” battle scene — complete with the battle equipment. And the outcome-It left the judges absolutely spell bound. JLo, Derek, and Ne-Yo all awarded them scores of 100.
For The Kings of the world now, winning didn’t come up as something new. They came into “World of Dance” after putting aside almost every competition India has to offer, including “India’s Got Talent.” They were also the first team from India to achieve a bronze medal at the 2015 World Hip-Hop Dance Championship.
