The exam culture in India is so noxious that it forbids anyone from celebrating anything less than a perfect 90 plus per cent. This unspoken, terrifying stress remains quite noticeable in the way we carry away all the glory and spotlight to the toppers and 90 percentile-rs, while those who manage to qualify those examinations are bothered by their own marks. This is almost as if these students possess a crime by scoring less than the aspired magical marks. In such circumstances, a mom from Delhi, Vandana Katoch, is winning the internet with the way she is unapologetic ally gratified at her son’s marks and is celebrating the same.
The gratified mother upload the following message on her Facebook page:“Super pleased of my son who obtained a 60% in Grade 10 board exams. Okay, it is not a 90, although that doesn't alter how I feel. Just because I have observed him struggle among certain subjects almost to the point of giving up, and then deciding to give his all in the last month-and-a-half to finally make it through! And keep your inborn morality, oddity and wisdom alive. And of course, your wicked sense of humour!”
This mother’s doubtless kind and optimistic message for her son definitely won over the internet within no time since the post has earned more than 5 thousand likes and around 3.3K shares. In an era where the marks obtained in board exams are assumed to be the justice of a child’s destiny, Vandana’s post reminds us about our responsibilities as a parent, which means to encourage, praise and support our children.
Parents all over Facebook are applauding her wondrous message and appreciating her for exclaiming out the madness of the rat race of per cent.
