The avengers have assembled and they are ready to avenge at the biggest global stage. The S.H.E.I.L.D. has announced the squad and here are our superheroes preparing for the end game.
Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma (vc), Shikhar Dhawan, MS Dhoni (wk), Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Vijay Shankar, Dinesh Karthik (wk), KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja.
They are looking good and most importantly they seem to be hungry to feed on runs and scalps. With most of the players are looking inform, they are considered to be favorite of the title of the favorite back in their kitty. Let's annalyse what can be the most effective combination on english turfs.
Probable XI : Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma (vc), Virat Kohli (c), MS Dhoni (wk), Kedar Jadhav, Vijay Shankar, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ravindra Jadeja/Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal.
I know it is quite subjective but I feel this will be the best combination to play with. With this we can have a luxury to, go with 8 bathesmen and 7 bowlers. I know, I'm being harsh on Mohammed Shami who had a brilliant IPl, hitting the deck hard to get the scalps. But the game has shifted to english soil where the bEnglishshould more focus on swing. Bhubaneshwar Kumar will play key role in leading the bowlers from the front. Keeping the lines tight, he can manage to create the pressure, so that Bumrah gets a luxury to bag some quick wickets with his swift pace. Hardik looked in great touch in this year's IPL which makes him a stand out choice to play the role of finisher and also to control the pace attack in the mid overs with his offcuters & leg cutters. English soil has very less for spinners so I would go for a proper leg spinner who is Chahal who should get a blend with left arm off spinner or with a chinaman to control the innings in between according to conditions. Plus the comfort of having the golden arm of Jadhav will be icing on the cake. Now, lets talk about why I chose Shankar over proper batsman such as KL Rahul who had a great IPL or Karthik who had mixed season. Shankar who was more of a shocker to be chosen over Pant and Raydu which was the talk of the town. He even didn't had a promising IPL but still he is in my effective XI because he can be the dark horse of the pact. He has shown his mettle against Kiwis earlier this year, where he managed to play the incoming and outswinging ball quite efficiently where everyone looked uncomfortable. Not just that, who can forget the 2nd ODI against Australia in Nagpur, where he kept his composure to successfully defend those 13 runs in the penultimate over. Moreover, his fielding skills too cannot be neglected which makes him deserve the green signal. I know, tactically one more specialist pace bowler should be included in the playing XI but I see the gamble, mouth watering. It will give the team a combination and a balance which we were seeking from years.
Now talking about our forte which is putting up runs on the board, we have Rohit & Dhawan at the top who are currently one of the best openers in the world. They both had a contrasting IPL season this year where Dhawan looked at his top-notch and Rohit bit rusty. The inswinging ball might be tricky for both of them but once they cope up with those deliveries, the right hand - left-hand duo can create chaos in the opposition camp. One down would be of course our cap, the run machine, king Kohli. He might have another forgettable IPL season but that makes him more threatening. MSD, "thalla" who might play his last world cup looked in supreme form. The timing, the placement, the shot selection, the running between the wickets is just phenomenal. Plus, his inputs in field setup to guiding the bowlers, to his work behind the stumps, to calls for reviews, this man certainly is the most beloved man after the great Sachin. He is the key to unlock the title. Jadhav who is known as the man with the golden arm certainly knows how to control the innings if the top order falls cheaply. Vijay Shankar who is a proper batsman has a capability to hold the innings or to just break out at the end. And everyone knows what Pandya can do to the bowlers on his day.
So overall, the team looks quite balanced and composed although I got bit harsh on few players. I would love to see your inputs in the comment section and do let me know how much you agree with me. Atlast I would like to say, buckle up Men in Blue and snatch that cup back, "whatever it takes".
