Are you having indigestion issues? Does your stomach roar when it turns to digest something? There are few foods that we eat regularly unknowingly that they are actually causing indigestion. Milk is the common digestion irritant in people with lactose intolerance. The artificial sweetener may cut off some calories from your diet but have you ever thought that in return it can also wreak havoc on your digestive system.

Surely the bright and eye-lucrative food items that you eat sometimes are real culprits, but there are some also criminals that can upset your stomach, and leave you burning from inside.

Let us know from the expert what these food items are:

1. You cannot digest fiber:

Both insoluble and soluble fiber such as veggies, whole grains, and oats, fruits, beans respectively are not digestible. "Insoluble fiber provides bulk to our stool and food for our healthy gut bacteria, and soluble fiber helps slow down digestion and can even have a positive impact on heart health," Chelsea Amengual, MS, RD, and manager of fitness programming and nutrition at Virtual Health Partners said.

2. Highly processed foods are hard to digest

Packet chips, juices and etc are unhealthy we all know but they are also troublesome for our digestive system. That's because "overly processed packaged foods contain many additives to keep the products palatable and shelf-stable," explained Amengual.

3. Non-nutritive sweeteners aren’t digestive:

If your morning starts with few drops of artificial sweetener in your Latte but you should think upon on its use once again. "Sugar-free sweeteners like aspartame do not provide calories and are not fully absorbed by the body," explained Amengual.

4. Many dairy products are impossible for some people to digest

The triple chocolate milkshake with whipped cream over it that has just swallowed in during your coffee date, might give your stomach pain at night. "Some people lack the enzyme to digest lactose, a natural sugar in dairy products," said Amengual.

5. Seeds can make your stomach upset

There is a straight forward reason behind that why your stomach gets upset after eating seeds. "Raw seeds (sunflower, sesame, chia, etc.) often contain phytic acid, which can interfere with the absorption of minerals," registered dietitian Brynn McDowell told.
