The Summer afternoons in Delhi are a near-death experience, And are one of those rare times when staying indoors seems like the perfect way to get away from the scorching sun and a nasty tan. The soaring temperatures and pollution outside give additional incentive to get yourself locked up in the bedroom with the air conditioning on full blast. But, no matter how much you try hard to escape the pollution, you can never get rid of it totally. The air inside our homes is as harmful as the air outside, and sometimes it gets even worse. So, in an attempt to resolve this growing menace, a few IIT graduates from Delhi recently came up with an inventive idea to turn an AC into an indoor air purifier!
The product - Nanoclean AC Filters is a high performing AC filter that can purify up to 90 percent of the air in a room within an hour of functioning without causing any change in the consumption or performance of the AC which only works to cool. The DIY filters can easily replace the existing filters of your home AC and their non-woven structure would then forbid the flow of PM 2.5 pollutants in the air. The product is designed by a firm named Nasofilters - an innovation startup which is founded by three IIT alumni - Prateek Sharma, Tushar Vyas, and Jatin Kewlani.
Also, it’s worth mentioning that the same trio of students had also invented a DIY nose filter to reduce the harmful effects of air pollutants on our lungs, which goes back in their university years. This latest product, designed with the help of senior IIT professors, is a major proof of their ingenuity and the thirst for social innovation at IIT Delhi. If you are thinking that when you can get hold of Nanoclean AC Filters, it’s now available for purchase online on the company’s website Nasofilters.com.
