If you are away from your house for the first time and are someone who is not engaged in a kitchen just like me the chances are that you are not acquainted with ‘KITCHEN THINGS’. While there are a lot of mistakes we often commit, storing all the fruits and vegetables together in a refrigerator is one common mistake that we often make. So here is a list of things which you should not store in the refrigerator.

1. Tomatoes-


While most of us make the mistake of keeping tomatoes in refrigerators we should not do it because scientifically it isn’t a vegetable, it is a fruit grown in sunlight. Thus, if you keep it in the fridge there are chances it gets rotten.

2. Banana-


Bananas should not be stored in a refrigerator as it can turn black because of the release of gas called ethylene which can rot other fruits kept with the bananas as well. It is thus advisable that you store it by covering the banana in a plastic bag.

3. Apple-


While you can keep an apple in a refrigerator it would be better if you keep it covered inside the newspaper as it would be protected this way.

4. Lemon-


If you keep citric fruits like lemon in the refrigerator for long there is a very high possibility that the peel gets black. You will also find a change in the taste of lemon as the peel gets dry with time.

5. Cucumber:


If you will store cucumber in the refrigerator for more than 2 days it won’t stay as usual. Keep it at room temperature but separate from fruits like banana and tomato.

6. Potato-


Taste of potatoes will be affected if you keep it in the refrigerator or store it in the plastic bags. One should store it at a cool place in a well-ventilated container.
