It does not matter if you identify ourselves with the English language or not we all want to speak it. While Hindi is our mother tongue we Indians feel more proud of speaking and conversing in the English language. The myth of English language highlights the fact that it is considered as the language of intellectual. If you know English you are smart and vice versa you are considered as ‘Gawar’( Illiterate) if you speak in Hindi especially ‘Shudh Hindi’( Pure form of Hindi).


Ironically India is becoming ‘English only generation’ and slowly we are wholly losing our mother tongue. While the fact that the English language has become so important of our lives, be it academics, our work life or any sphere we are continuously shifting towards ignoring our mother tongue. Most of us have had this assumption that what’s there to learn about the Hindi language? We all have been speaking in the same since birth so everyone knows about it but is it true? Are we really competent to speak Hindi?
