‘Johnny Lever’ has struggled a lot before emerging as star comedian in Bollywood. From living in Dharavi slum to becoming beloved comedian, the 61-year-old actor has come a long way in life. You would be surprised to know that 7th pass Johnny used to work as salesboy during his struggling days.
Today, Johnny has become a well-known name of television and Bollywood. ‘Johnrao Prakashrao Janumala’ is the original name of Johnny. The 61-year-old actor is the eldest among his three sisters and two brothers. Due to financial constraints, Johnny quit schooling and started working as salesboy in MumbaiJohnny used to mimic popular Bollywood actors and dance on their songs while selling pens at streets. Later, the star comedian joined Hindustan Unilever limited along with his father where he used to entertain his colleagues with mimcry of heroes during freetime. When the 61-year-old actor showcased his talent at company function, he received the tag of ‘Johnny Lever’ from his office buddies.
Besides films, Johnny appeared in TV shows and ad commercials. He worked in around 350 films and judged reality comedy shows. Johnny’s daughter ‘Jamie Lever’ is also a standup comedian who appeared in TV shows and films. Though the number of comedians have increased tremendously in the recent past in Bollywood, none of them succeeded in matching the level of Johnny whose charm is alive till date.On the work front, Johnny would be next seen in new instalment of ‘Dhamaal’ franchise. The multi-starrer comedy film ‘Total Dhamaal’ is slated to release on February 22 this year.
