Can you muster the courage to say ‘No’ without having a fear of being judged, rejected or disliked by others? Can you resent doing things constantly just to please others? If yes if the answer you probably care more about yourself than the others.

The true idea of self-love: Do you really love yourself?

• What exactly is not self-love:

The idea that self-love is about indulging in various practices occasionally is fundamentally a little backward. Going for a spa, having luxurious body and hair treatments to please others is not at all self-love.

Self- love is about understanding the priorities and respecting them for yourself and for people you wish to spend time with. Indulging in activities that are not for the greater good for you is not self-love. For example Binge-watching a show to miss your work routine is not at all self-love.

• Understanding the priorities

There are things which feel good at that particular moment but we know that they are not good for us in a larger way. If you can simply understand and respect those thoughts you actually love yourself.

• It is a discipline:

Self- love is about setting routines, doing things every day, which may be boring at times but still, you engraved it in your routine because it is good for you in some way.

Why is self-love so important in our lives?

The courage to do things without being fearful and truly respect yourselves helps to trust feelings and instincts without endless worry and thus one becomes authentic. One chooses to ignore the negativity of life as we begin to experience the greater version of the life. One also begins to derive contentment, self-assurance, playfulness, peace, and positivity.

"You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection." -- Buddha
