Sundar C’s Sangamithra that has been a topic of discussion ever since it announcement is finally going on floors. AS per reports on Mumbai Mirror, the team is all set to kickstart the shoot this July! The shooting will take place in Hyderabad. “The film will be on the lines of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali and will release in two parts.” revealed a source close the development of the film.
As we all know, Disha Patani is taking on the role of the leading lady. It was due her prior commitments the film got pushed to July from Jan. The actress has now been asked give a chunk of her dates for a year. “It will be filmed on a grand scale and if everything goes as planned, the first part will release next year” further revealed the source. The movie is reportedly being made on a budget of Rs 400 crore! The movie will release in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Sangamithra will also star Jayam Ravi and Arya in lead roles.
Sangamithra will be set in 5th century AD. The first glimpse of the lead character was unveiled by the team at the Cannes Film Festival. At that time, the team had Shruti Haasan leading the way. Unexpectedly the actress opted out of the project citing script issues. Her exit came as a surprise to many as she had already started prepping for the role. She had even taken to sword fighting, an important skill that would be showcased in the movie. After her exit, the makers found their replacement in Disha Patani. The actress confirmed the news last year when she tweeted – Really very excited for #Sangamitra Can’t wait to start shooting for this wonderful film”
The actress was recently seen in Baaghi 2 opposite Tiger Shroff. Ever since its release on 30th March, the movie set the bx office on fire. In fact the movie boasts of the biggest Day 1 opening in 2018.
